Sani Sticks from Product Trend claims to be a biodegradable stick you put down your drain that will keep it both clog and odor free. They state Sani Sticks rest in the pipe trap and slowly release a concentrated blend of enzymes that stop backups, clogs, funny smells, and prevent grease build up. They promise Sani Sticks are the easy environmentally friendly way to keep your drains clean.

How do Sani Sticks work to keep drains clean?

Sani Sticks does not expressly state what they are, except to say it’s made from powerful enzymes that digest organic deposits and greasy buildup and is completely biodegradable.

Sani Stick looks to be about the size of a coffee swizzle stick, and is blue in color. To use Sani Sticks, they instruct you to stick it down your drain. They claim Sani Sticks will then work naturally to break down stuff like hair, grease, soaps, and other yucky gunk that clog your drains and/or emit a funny smell.

Each Sani Stick is said to last 1 month and at the end of that time it will have safely broken down and washed away. The add Sani Stick is 100% safe for pipes, septic tanks, and the environment. Sani Sticks boasts using their product every month will prevent smelly, messy clogs before they happen, saving you hundreds of dollars.

How much are Sani Sticks to buy?

Sani Sticks say on their website they are just $10 for 24 and if you buy one set they’ll give you another 24 for free. However, the fine print reveals that they charge $6.99 for the first set and $4.99 for the second. Total cost = $21.98 for 48.

Sani Sticks Money Back Guarantee and Contact Info

Sani Sticks says they offer a 30-day money back guarantee, but this does not include any of the shipping and handling fees. This means that they will only return $10, plus you have to pay to ship Sani Sticks back.

Bottom Line: Is Sani Sticks a good way to unclog drains?

We couldn’t find any reviews of Sani Sticks, but found that Product Trend has an A rating from the BBB, in spite of 118 complaints in the last 3 years, primarily about products or services. The BBB says Product Trend’s rating was raised due to the fact that the company responded promptly to complaints and indeed their BBB page shows many of these were resolved; however customer reviews about Product Trend are very negative.

Several complain about the hidden shipping fees they have to pay and others mention telephone solicitations received from third parties. Product Trend’s privacy policy allows them or “Select Partners” to contact you via email, snail mail, or telephone unless you tell them to stop by emailing

Because of these negative reviews and privacy intrusions, we do not suggest buying Sani Sticks from their website. Instead, wait until Sani Sticks become available at your local retailer that has an “As Seen On TV” aisle or buy from a reputable 3rd party retailer like Target or Walgreens.

Alternatives to Sani Stick

In spite of the claims in the infomercial, Sani Sticks are hardly a new innovation. In fact, we found a product called Sani-Clean also sold by Product Trends/Hampton Direct that has 3.7 stars from 75 reviews so this is perhaps a re-branding.

Generally speaking, most seem to feel Sani-Clean works, but point out that baking soda and vinegar will do a similar thing for less money.

How to prevent clogged drains

The most important thing is to have some kind of hair or food trap that will prevent particles from going down the pipes. Also:

  • Avoid pouring any grease or oils down the drain
  • Run hot water through the sink after each use
  • Regularly pour 1 cup of vinegar down the drain and let it sit for 30 minutes, followed by boiling water
