Rapid Roaster is a microwavable cooker that claims you can brown meats in it just like you would using a regular oven but in much less time. They promise that if you use Rapid Roaster you can cook rice or veggies in the bottom and roast a chicken up to 4 lbs. in just minutes and it will be roasted brown on top.

How Rapid Roaster Works

Rapid Roaster a roasting pan, rack, and plastic cover that fits in your microwave whose main claim is that you can cook foods quickly with less oil and do an entire meal at once.

In the bottom, they instruct you to put potatoes, rice, or other vegetables along with water and on top of the rack you put your meats. Finally, they tell you adjust the steam vent to control the cooking process. (It comes with a recipe book for more information.) They state the Rapid Roaster is machine washable and free of BPAs.

Rapid Roaster Costs

$32.85 for 2. This is made more “digestible” by listing the price as $19.95 plus $7.95 P&H for the first Rapid Roaster and Recipe Guide but then automatically charging you another $4.95 in fees for the “free” second set.

You have 30 days to try your Rapid Roaster and if you don’t like it you can return for your money back, but this does not include the $12.90 in fees (you also have to pay to ship both Rapid Roasters/Guides back).

Bottom Line: Is Rapid Roaster a Scam?

Rapid Roaster promises a lot of convenience, especially for those people living in an RV or have a tiny kitchen and customer reviews on the product are decidedly split. But here are a few things to consider if you decide to order Rapid Roaster.

First, is your microwave big enough? If you’re living in an RV or small apartment, you may also have a smaller-size microwave that might not be able to hold an entire 4 lb. chicken so the Rapid Roaster itself may be too big, as some reviews have noted.

Second, be aware this is an “As Seen On TV” product, which sometimes overstate their claims and upon arrival tend to disappoint. For instance, Rapid Roaster promises a fully cooked chicken in minutes; however, most microwaved chicken recipes we could find say it’s about 7 or 8 minutes per pound. In other words, if you cook an entire 4 lb. chicken in the microwave, it will take “minutes” – 30 of them.

On top of that, vegetables need a decidedly shorter amount of time to cook in the microwave, usually between 2-15 minutes. This means, although the Rapid Roaster promises you can cook meats and veggies together, you will probably have to remove the vegetables midway through the cooking process, otherwise they’ll be overdone.

As a matter of fact, you may not even need Rapid Roaster to “roast” your bird at all. Here’s how to roast a chicken in the microwave using wax paper.  And here are some tips on how to steam vegetables in the microwave using just a bowl, plastic wrap, and water.
