Bamboo Magic Pillow champions itself as a 3-in-1 pillow made from memory foam and bamboo fabric that’s great for people no matter if they sleep on their side, back, or stomach. They claim Bamboo Magic Pillow is hypoallergenic, draws heat away from you to keep you cool, and keeps its shape no matter how many times you wash it.

The Bamboo Magic Pillow Pitch

Bamboo Magic Pillow is combining 2 popular pillow materials – bamboo fibers and memory foam – to create what they say is the perfect way to get a good night’s sleep. (It seems very similar to the Bambillo Memory Foam Pillow or the Miracle Bamboo Pillow but it’s unclear if this is a re-branding or a different company entirely.)

What is Memory Foam?

Memory foam has been around since the 1960s when it was invented by NASA to keep their astronauts comfy. It’s called memory foam because it reacts to body heat to cradle your shape and then “remembers” its original form. Bamboo Magic claims to have one outer layer of memory foam as well as being filled with memory foam pieces, which are usually leftover materials and used in mass manufacturing. Although many people swear by their memory foam-covered mattresses and pillows, there is no scientific evidence proving that they give people a better night’s sleep.

What is Bamboo Fabric?

Bamboo fabric is a “hot” material in pillows because it’s soft and keeps you cool; one of the complaints of memory foam is that it traps heat, so the bamboo fabric is said to counter that and also have antimicrobial properties. However, according to the FTC, while many companies claim to have products made from bamboo fiber, it’s really rayon, a synthetic fabric derived from bamboo but contains no original plant material. The FTC says that any company that claims to use bamboo fiber in their products should back it up with scientific evidence.

The Bamboo Magic Pillow Cost

$34.98 for one pillow of unknown size (listed as $29.99 plus $5.99 S&H). If you would like another Bamboo Magic Pillow, you can add it for another $5.99 in fees. Bamboo Magic Pillow comes with a 90-day money back guarantee minus S&H and what it costs to send the product back. There is no mention of any warranty and customer service had no further information on the product.

Bottom Line: Is Bamboo Magic Pillow a Scam?

Bamboo Magic Pillow may be something you rest your head upon, but there are a few important unanswered questions: namely, how big is it, does it have a warranty, and is it real bamboo fabric or just rayon?

A call to customer service was not helpful as they said they had no information on the product (as of December 2014). If you are interested in Bamboo Magic Pillow we suggest calling (844) 620-3699 and seeing if you can get a satisfactory answer to those questions.

In the meantime, if you are looking into bamboo pillows, look for a pillow that:

  • Can certify it is made with bamboo fabric, not rayon
  • Has a listed warranty – some pillows we’ve seen offer 10 years
  • Offers different sizes
