Zyppah Rx (pronounced ZEE-PAH) is a green mouth guard that the manufacturers insist will eliminate snoring. What they say makes the Zyppah different from other anti-snore mouth guards is not only its sleek design that re-positions the lower jaw but also the rubber stabilizing strap that keeps your tongue in place.

The Zyppah Rx Pitch

Zyppah is touted by famed “The Newlywed Game” host Bob Eubanks, who promises you (and your partner) will get the sleep you deserve with this device. They add it was invented by dentist-slash-bioengineer Dr. Jonathan Greenburg who studied snoring for 10 years. Finally, they use testimonials from couples who claim they’re now experiencing a quiet night’s sleep, and possibly a happier marriage, thanks to Zyppah Rx.

Why Do We Snore?

Snoring is caused by the soft palate vibrating as air attempts to pass through the airways that are partially blocked due to your relaxed tongue and throat muscles. According to WebMD, 40% of people snore, mostly men, primarily because they are overweight. But snoring can also be a sign of bigger problems, including sleep apnea (when a person stops breathing and awakes with a gasp), high blood pressure, or heart disease.

How Zyppah Rx Works

Zyppah Rx is a “boil and bite” type of mouth guard, meaning you boil it in hot water and then bite down on it to create an imprint of your teeth, which they claim will give you a good fit. It comes in Green and a limited edition Pink to benefit Susan G. Komen, a breast cancer research organization.

Like most anti-snore mouth guards, Zyppah says its design gently adjusts the lower jaw to increase airflow. The unique part about Zyppah (aside from its bright colors) is that it adds a tongue strap, which they claim holds it in place – Dr. Greenburg and Zyppah state that the tongue is the primary cause of snoring.

Zyppah Cost:

$89.95, which includes free S&H if you want to pay right away. The other option is to pay $9.95 for shipping and try for 30 days. If you decide Zyppah works for you, then you will be billed $89.95 for a total of $99.90.

Zyppah offers a 30-day money back guarantee, so long as you contact customer service at 800-875-3370 and obtain an RMA.

Bottom Line: Will Zyppah Rx STOP My Snoring?

Zyppah Rx does seem to have its advocates, although it’s hard to tell which ones are affiliates and which are genuine customers. But judging from these reviews, there are some clear pros and cons.

  • Small size
  • Seems to work for many people

  • Takes some getting used to (and some won’t like it at all!)
  • Not adjustable
  • The “boil and bite” process is somewhat difficult
  • Lasts just 6-9 months

It should also be mentioned, Zyppah is NOT for people with sleep apnea, TMJ (aka grinding teeth) or other breathing disorders listed in their Terms and Conditions. Dr. Greenburg has several Snore No More centers around Los Angeles where you can get a prescription grade Zyppah to address these problems.

There are also some other ways to stop snoring: lose weight, don’t drink alcohol near bedtime, sleep on your side or with your head elevated. (There’s also a trick where you can tape tennis balls to the back of your pajamas to prevent you from sleeping on your back.)

Zyppah is currently #7 on the Snoring Mouthpiece Guide that goes into greater detail on many different anti-snore products.
