Slim Jeggings by Genie are a pair of stretchable leggings that look like designer jeans that the manufacturers promise will fit and flatter women of all sizes. They insist that their blend of cotton, nylon, and spandex will feel great and will lift and sculpt your booty, thighs, and tummy while leaving no visible panty lines.
How Slim Jeggings Work
Slim Jeggings come in blue, black, or grey and 4 sizes. They have real back pockets and an imprint to make them look like the popular skinny jeans. The pitch is that you will look thinner and you won’t have to squeeze, button, and zip them up to wear. However, it should be noted that Slim Jeggings are not denim.
Slim Jeggings Run You:
$39.98 for 3 pairs. This is sold as $29.99 plus $9.99 shipping for the first pair and the other 2 are free. This works out to $13.33 a pair.
Slim Jeggings comes with both a 60-day limited warranty and a 60-day money back guarantee. However, in order to take advantage of the limited warranty (which covers manufacturer defects) you must pay $7.99 in fees and pay to ship them back. The money back guarantee is also minus return shipping and the $9.99 S&H.
Bottom Line: Is Slim Jeggings a Scam?
“Jeggings” is the latest buzzword in women’s clothing and Slim Jeggings is certainly capitalizing on that. We like the 60-day warranty and guarantee. But there are a few things we think you should also keep in mind.
First, as we mentioned before – these are not denim or stretch denim jeans. Denim is defined as a cotton twill weave that give garments a unique look-and-feel (and can cost hundreds of dollars); stretch denim has spandex stitched in. They may call these “jeggings” but they’re really just leggings made to look like jeans. This is not necessarily a bad thing but just something you should know. (Here’s a handy guide to the difference between Jeggings and Skinny Jeans.)
Second, although it says Slim Jeggings is made by a company called Genie, it really is sold by Tristar Products. Currently (Oct 2014) Tristar has a C- rating from the BBB due to 920 complaints in the past 3 years, primarily due to problems with their products.
Third, if you do order Silm Jeggings, you are allowing Tristar to solicit you via telephone, email, or regular mail with other offers. They may also give your personal information to third parties to do the same.
Therefore, if you do decide to order Slim Jeggings:
- Remember that you may have to pay $7.99 even if they are defective to replace them.
- You will be paying $9.99 in fees whether you keep them or not.
