My Fun Fish says it will turn any room an “under-water world of discovery”. But before you get out your mask and snorkel, realize they are just talking about a small fish tank that supposedly cleans itself when you add new water.
My Fun Fish is sold by Product Trends. They have an “F” rating from the BBB (so something about them is certainly fishy.)
The My Fun Fish Pitch
A man speaking in rhyming, childlike voice says that “every child’s wish is to have their very own pet fish!” But as the infomercial shows, other fish tanks quickly get dirty, are hard to clean, and smell bad.
How My Fun Fish Works
My Fun Fish claims it uses “gravity clean technology” (otherwise known as “gravity”) to force out old water. This is done via a small tube and spout that runs from the bottom of the fish tank and pops out the side. To use My Fun Fish, fill with water and fish (not included). When it’s time to clean, they say to pour in the new water and the dirty water will be forced through the tube and out the spout (presumably into an awaiting receptacle and not on the floor.) They add this will keep water oxygenated.
The My Fun Fish “Catch”
They don’t tell you how big the My Fun Fish tank is. It appears to be the size of a blender and has enough room for one tiny fish and plant.
