BikiniBOD is a weight loss supplement that claims to be a completely natural way to suppress appetite and boost metabolism. They state each capsule contains 10 proven ingredients that will slim you down as well as make you look younger, hotter and ready to strut your stuff at the beach.
What’s so great about BikiniBOD that they claim will help me lose weight?
BikiniBOD is said to contain ten of the highest quality fruit and plant extracts available in the marketplace for weight loss and anti-aging. BikiniBOD claims these ingredients work together in 4 key ways: suppressing the hunger hormone, blocking the carb-to-fat conversion, stopping fat absorption, and boosting calorie burning even while at rest.
As an added bonus, they tout the caffeine in BikinBOD will put a “pep in your step”, the biotin fortifies hair, skin and nails, and the berry blend gives you antioxidant power at the cellular level.
BikiniBOD states that their pill has been doctor reviewed and is trusted by Dr. Micahel Woo-Ming M.D., who signed a certificate on DoctorTrusted.org giving it an A rating for reasonable health claims, ethical pricing, and fair refund policy amongst other criteria. (However, it should be noted that DoctorTrusted.org is a for profit company, and this is not an official certification.)
BikiniBOD also touts that is it is made “for women by women” co-founded by Christie Cash, a licensed cosmetologist and avid blogger, and Helen Christoni, a beauty industry entrepreneur who says she takes the product daily.
The full listing of ingredients in BikiniBOD are:
- Bitter Orange Extract – said to suppress appetite by regulating hunger hormones.
- Garcinia Cambogia – they say it shuts down the carb-to-fat conversion.
- Yohimbe Bark Extract – they claim it burns “stubborn” fat.
- Raspberry Keytones – they make a claim it helps burn calories even at rest.
- Caffeine – “gives you the energy of a morning latte, minus the calories.”
- Green Coffee Bean Extract – they state it fights fat absorption.
- Biotin – It is said to be the beauty industry’s leading ingredient for hair, skin, and nails.
- Superfruit Extracts – they say these have been chosen for their “Hi ORAC” (Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity) that is said to make them great antioxidants. (However, ORAC is a measurement that the USDA says is misleading and misused in the supplement industry.)
- Green Tea – said to be a “broad spectrum” nutrient for longevity.
BikiniBOD states it contains 500 mcgs in a “proprietary blend”, so we don’t know exactly how much of these ingredients it actually has. On their FAQ page they state the caffeine in each pill is equal to a medium cup of premium-roasted coffee (probably around 150-200 milligrams). They do state it contains 1000 mcg of biotin, 333% of the recommended daily value.
To use BikiniBOD, they tell you to start with just 1 pill in the morning on an empty stomach 15-30 minutes before a meal and take another if you need another 3 or 4 hours later. They caution you to not take more than 3 pills in a day and if you are sensitive to caffeine to start with just half a pill. Depending on how much you take, they claim each bottle of BikiniBOD will last 1-2 months (it contains 60 pills).
How much do they charge for a bottle of BikiniBOD weight loss pills?
BikiniBOD sells each bottle for $49.99, which includes free shipping in the US and also includes a free 28-day Blueprint workout eBook.
A “Lifestyle Package” for $74.99 includes lip balm, a tank top, keychain, and BPA-free water bottle and the “Ultimate Package” for $124.99 adds a sports bra and a 2nd bottle of BikiniBOD. They also sell these items separately along with BikiniBOD ear buds for $9.99 so you can rock out as you try to lose weight.
BikiniBOD return policy information
BikiniBOD touts a 30-day money back guarantee, but there is some fine print. First, your 30 days starts from the day you ordered BikiniBOD not when it comes in the mail. Although they promise fast shipping, depending on when it arrives it could shave several days off of your trial period without you knowing it. Also, they state any apparel or accessories are only available for exchange.
BikiniBOD does not list a phone number, just an email to get in touch with them for a refund: email@example.com but they promise their “wonderful customer support team” will get back to you right away.
Bottom Line: Is BikiniBOD a good, safe way to suppress my appetite, increase my metabolism, and help me lose weight?
Probably not. We say this because of several factors. First, while BikiniBOD claims to contain the “best of” weight loss ingredients, to us they seem like the WORST.
According to WebMD, Garcinia Cambogia studies of weight loss aren’t impressive; those that took it lost an average of 2 lbs. more than those that didn’t. “"Most brands of garcinia cambogia extract diet pills, including big names, have failed independent laboratory quality and quantity testing," says Sue Decottis M.D. in an article in Women’s Health. "Also, there have been no large-scale trials comparing garcinia to placeboes or other supplements. There probably will never be any objective data on garcinia."
Yohimbe is a stimulant that is potentially dangerous ingredient because may interact with other medications you are taking including anti-depressants or anti-nausea. It can worsen panic attacks or existing liver or kidney problems as well.
Most of other ingredients listed have little to back up their claims, aside from a few animal studies. Even the connection of healthy hair and nails to biotin is weak, according to the University of Maryland.
So what’s left in BikiniBOD that has been shown to have some positive effect is caffeine, allegedly the same amount as a medium cup of coffee. The Mayo Clinic states that caffeine may boost weight loss and suppress appetite in the short term, but there’s a lack of evidence it helps in the long term.
You should always be cautious in taking caffeine, less than 400 mg a day is recommended for adults, or about 2 cups of coffee. If you’re already having a couple low-fat lattes in the morning, you’re likely getting the same benefit you would from BikiniBOD and if you take this pill on top of it you risk overdose.
We say: skip the supplement, but perhaps buy the water bottle, sports bra, and earbuds and create your “bikini bod” by exercising more and eating less.
